Book review #268: Have You Heard the Nesting Bird?

Have You Heard the Nesting Bird?words by Rita Gray; pictures by Kenard Pak
Non-fiction picture book
Interest level: K-3
Independent reading level: 1.9
4 out of 5 stars

The illustrations in this book are very natural in the colors and depictions of the various birds. This is a non-fiction picture book that introduces younger readers to about a dozen different birds and the calls that are unique to each. We also learn about the robin and their nesting habits. I learned quite a bit from the rhyming verses and there is a Q&A with the nesting bird at the end of the book that is very informative. This is a well-done book!
