Alex, the letter-writer from I Wanna Iguana and I Wanna New Room is back! This time he is trying to convince his parents that he shouldn’t have to stay with Grandma and Grandpa in a boring retirement community while they travel to Bora Bora. The pace of the story must move faster than the US Postal Service can accommodate, so Alex and his parents communicate via email and text messaging.

The previous two books, Iguana and New Room were written more to showcase Alex’s persuasive writing skills. I Wanna Go Home is different because it focuses more on the developing relationship between Alex and his grandparents. The two generations learn new things from each other, and a special bond is formed.

There are still lots of laughs, and the illustrations by David Catrow are a perfect fit to the story, as always.
