4 out of 5 stars

This wordless picture book showcases the absolutely incredible illustrations that Bill Thomson creates to tell his story. His incredibly realistic images feature different viewpoints and perspectives, yet are easy to follow and understand what is happening.

Three children find an abandoned carousel on a cold winter day and discover an old typewriter, which has the magical ability to bring to life whatever is typed on its paper. Thinking creatively, the children type words to give them a fun day at the beach…until something turns out differently than planned.

I have a feeling that, for many children, this could be their first experience with a typewriter. This could bring about the opportunity for a mini history lesson about how things were typed up and printed before computers.
