I really think children will delight in the rhyming narrative, creative plot, and anthropomorphic food featured in this book, and it would make a great read-aloud experience. The story is set in the refrigerator, where Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast (Toast, for short) have learned there is only one drop of syrup left. That sets up a mad race through the food obstacles in the refrigerator…scaling Potato Mash Mountain, parachuting with a lettuce leaf, and many other very entertaining food adventures.

Who will be the victor and be awarded the last drop of syrup??

The illustrations are fun and entertaining, and the last page features a fold down page showcasing the interior of the entire refrigerator on the oversized page. The shopping list, featuring syrup as item #1, is extremely funny!
